ZEITGEIST GEARING UP FOR 3RD ANNUAL SWIM-A THON
In 2006 students from Viewpoint School in Calabasas (Jared Stern, Michelle Germain, Alex Van Trigt and Cassidy Case) formed the Zeitgeist Committee to mentor and tutor children in the Baldwin Village section of the Crenshaw district of South Los Angeles. They also help with fundraising. It has since grown to include six other students (Valerie Pitsch, John Anderson, Nicole Lotte, Cherish Pichetrungsi, Hunter Pritchard and Jonathon Stav).
The Zeitgeist Committee is proudly holding their 3rd annual Swim-a-Thon at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Club on May 17th, Sunday 11AM-4PM. With over 11,200 laps swam in the past, they are still blowing us out of the water with their goals set for 5 figures. They hope to spark the interest of every person across Los Angeles to help raise enough money so Zeitgeist can continue serving the Baldwin Village community. This will make it possible for the Zeitgeist children to succeed, achieve academically and make a difference in our society through their continued enrollment at the center. Not only is Zeitgeist Community Learning Center giving these children an opportunity to achieve their goals, but it is also minimizing the level of violent crime in South LA by showing them a different way of life. Through the efforts of the Zeitgeist Community Learning Center the children will not only stay in school, but graduate and attain an upper-hand in gaining admission to college and starting careers as Doctors, Lawyers, and possibly future Teachers.
Join us in whatever way your heart is stirred. Donate and be a part of helping educate our most desperate youth. Sponsor a swimmer at $1 per lap, give a flat-rate donation, or be a part of the challenge and raise money on behalf of Zeitgeist and swim laps. So put your goggles on and watch the flood gates open as we transform lives of one generation to the next, one person at a time. Donations can be made online at www.zclc.org or sent to Zeitgeist Community Learning Center at P.O. Box 341011 Los Angeles, CA 90034. For more information call Jared Stern at 818-591-5954.
